摘 要：110 years ago, Agner Krarup Erlang published the first paper in queueing theory, motivated by telephone calls at a switchboard. However, the classical queueing models were no longer valid models for many types of traffics on the Internet, which rejuvenated queueing theory since 1970s. For the past 15 years, new challenges have emerged, largely from availability and applications of big data. I will illustrate our efforts in a few directions to address modeling, performance, inferences, optimization for large-scaled, multi-dimensional queueing systems with complex dependence structures, unknown components, missing data, delayed information.
主讲人简介
赵以强，教授，博导，加拿大卡尔顿大学理学学部（Faculty of Science at Carleton University）副主任（Associate Dean）、终身教授（tenure）。赵教授是国际上随机运筹研究领域的知名学者，主要从事应用概率和随机过程的研究，在国际一流权威期刊上发表了100多篇高水平的学术论文，其研究成果产生了深远的影响，被国际同行广泛引用，并得到高度评价。现担任多个国际核心期刊的副主编或编委，如：《Queueing Systems》，《Stochastic Models》，《Operations Research Letters》，《Advances in Operations Research》，《International Journal of Communications Journal of Environmental Informatics》等。赵教授的科研成果被国际主要网络通讯公司Nortel和Alcatel采用，拥有国际专利，并创办了Sounthm公司，进行产业化推广。
